The Merriman Family Young Composers Workshop Concert

Monday, 2 May, 2016 7:00PM

Come and enjoy this concert of world premieres by 10 teen composers! Each year, a cohort of 10 musicians are selected to participate in this 12-week program which allows students to work on all aspects of composing, including writing themes, learning orchestration and preparing a final score with parts. The program culminates in a world-premiere chamber concert at Benaroya Hall featuring new works by these young composers.

Sonic Evolution: This is Indie!

Indie filmmaker Bill Morrison, known for his riveting collages of archaic footage with original scores, joins forces with the famed Bang on a Can co-founder Michael Gordon for a one-of-a-kind evening. Morrison surfaces archival footage from Seattle’s history as a backdrop for Gordon’s electrified concerto for virtuoso pianist and multimedia artist Tomoko Mukaiyama.
